Royal Hawaiian

The Royal Hawaiian Manufacturing Company was founded in 1937 by Max Lewis with eight sewing machines and twelve employees. Within a few years and an additional 70 employees, Royal Hawaiian was shipping garments to the United States, Bermuda, London, Paris, Switzerland and Australia.

Their factory was located at 125 South Beretania St. in Honolulu, Hawaii, then a Territory of the United States. They offered a broad line of "Beach togs and play clothes, sarongs, holomuus, muumuus and aloha shirts in gay Hawaiian prints in tropical patterns." Their woven label was elegant with 3 different fonts and a classic image of a coconut tree and volcano like mountain cone in the background.

In 1955 Watumull's purchased Royal Hawaiian Manufacturing Company from Mr. Lewis.
