Iolani
Iolani started as a small company with four employees and the vision of Keiji and Edith Kawakami. They originally focused on men's shirts, using silk, rayon and lovely Kabe crepe fabric imported directly from Kyoto, Japan. Many of the fabrics they imported had fresh designs with village prints, surfing, canoes, Diamond Head and the scenic Waimea Canyon on Kauai. Generally hand screened, their prints were colorful and carefully hand rendered representations of relaxed Island scenes.
The Hawiian word Iolani, translated means “heavenly bird”.
