In 1935, T. H. Ho was among the first to manufacture Aloha Shirts. Their tiny factory with 3 sewing machines produced 50 dozen garments a month. "After the war we decided we liked people too well to just be stuck in the factory" said Mr. Ho, "We opened a retail store in Waikiki to sell the things we make." They were located at 2331 Kalakaua Avenue and also ran a very successful mail-order catalog business.
The words Surfrider Sportswear were laid in 2 wave like curves with a classic Waikiki surfer as the focal point of their logo and woven labels. They are regarded as one of the great Aloha Shirt and Women's Wear makers of the "Golden Era".
