Pali Hawaiian shirts were made in Japan by Clarence Hara who imported the shirts through his company Fuji Import. His Father-in-law, Isamu Takabuki, had started printing fabrics after World War II for the Hawaii market with the company Aloha Boeki.
The patterns were colorful and often portrayed landscapes in paradise, influenced from
pictures and postcards that had been sent from Hawaii as inspiration for textile artists and designers in Japan.
Most of the shirts were printed on Kabe Crepe fabric.
