Mildred's of Hawaii was named after Mildred Doi who started the business in 1954. As the sole owner, she was in charge of production, design and sales. By the early 1960's, Mildred's employed 40 people to produce her lines of Hawaiian sportswear for men, women and children. She designed her own exclusive prints and sold to retailers mainly in the Hawaiian Islands.
