Mark Twain

The Mark Twain brand of Aloha Shirt was first manufactured in the 1940s. By the early 1950s they had branched out to other sportswear shirts. This label was named after American writer Mark Twain, author of "Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens, he is often referred to as "the father of American literature."

The Mark Twain name was used on commercial objects during his lifetime and more often after is death in 1910. Although it was occasionally used with his permission, it was often used without his knowledge.
