Baron of Waikiki

Baron of Waikiki was a retail store located at 1923 Kalakaua Avenue in the late 1940's. One of their advertisements that appeared in the Paradise of the Pacific in January of 1948 read, "DISTINCTIVE MEN'S WEAR TO ESQUIRE YOU." The word “Baron” refers to atitle of nobility which must have reflected upon their store demeanor.

Their logo and label had a champagne glass effervescing bubbles with a fox wearing a top hat posed with a cane. Like many retailers in that era, when they ordered shirts from manufacturers they private labeled their shirts, giving them more of an exclusive offering and product to their customers.
