A subtle design goes a long way, as it does on this short-sleeve aloha shirt by Lurline Casuals. On the front pocket is a wooden tiki statue, a kāhili (feather standard), and a sailing canoe — all symbols of ancient life in Hawai‘i. Those images are repeated on the opposite panel, too, but with palm trees, spears, and an outrigger canoe and sailboats in the quiet waters off Diamond Head in Waikīkī. The one-color motifs are simply drawn, expressing the ease of life in the Islands.
