Kamehameha 026

Coconut trees are the main attraction on this short-sleeved aloha shirt by Kamehameha. The trees, complete with green and yellow coconuts and sunlit fronds in purple and yellow, create an interesting pattern running down the side and middle panels of this red shirt. Swaying coconut trees are iconic to the visitor experience. But the tree had far more uses to Native Hawaiians than shade. Besides providing coconuts, these trees offer fronds and wood used for housing, thatching, hats, baskets, furniture, mats, clothing, brooms, musical instruments, implements and oil for fuel, ointments and soap. This shirt pays homage to this very important tree in the Islands.
