A vertical border design with alternating mature pineapples, facing towards each other, surrounded by the blossoms of the Huapala vine. The huapala or orange trumpet vines are found at higher elevations around the Hawaiian Islands. Their blossoms come to full bloom in the beginning of January each year, creating a flaming orange blanket of flowers on a vine of green leaves.
Pineapple was introduced to Hawaii in the early 1900’s by the Spanish, and originally farmed by James Dole on the first pineapple plantation in Wahiawa, Hawaii. This is an unusual design utilizing a fruit and a flower vine to create a striking balanced print on a Pacific Blue ground.
