A pioneer of Japanese prints and designs on aloha shirts, K. Isoshima released this three-button shirt featuring quaint scenes of village life during the end of winter. Ume, or plum, trees begin to blossom, indicating the start of spring despite the recent snowfall. The small images of temples, gates, trees and bridges — all in shades of red — are prominent against the black fabric of the shirt.
