Hale Hawaii 003

Hale Hawaii made several versions of their classic “Hawaii Land of Aloha” print. This version has well-illustrated colorful groupings of tropical fruit, a Hawaiian King, ukulele, hula implements and fresh flowers, a lei lady, and a graceful pa’u rider. In the background are fainter elements that need close inspection.

The Hawaiian coat of arms, a paddler and his canoe, Hawaiian phrases and a fisherman throwing his net. Gorgeous long sleeve shirt in an unusual soft white ground. Hale Hawaii, meaning “House of the Sun” was owned by Wah Cho Lock who started the company in 1947. Hale Hawaii, was sold in 1958 and one of Aloha Shirts greatest makers, “W.C.” went on to be a Banker in Honolulu.
