Olympian swimmer Duke Kahanamoku and New York garment company, Cisco, collaborated and created a Duke Kahanamoku sportswear collection in 1950. This collection was distributed to better stores across the country.
This intricate, one-color geometric motif creates a dramatic design on this velvety brown short-sleeve shirt. Running along the button area are columns with floral, paisley-like patterns in pale bronze, gold and green. The rest of the shirt is filled with bronze emblems, almost like jeweled brooches, in bold, dramatic relief against the dark fabric.
