Asian sailboats in matchbox vignettes, tossed in all four directions, mix with a background of Bamboo on a coffee brown solid ground. Lemon yellow accents give the design an added bounce off the dark black ground. This shirt was influenced by Asian designs that made the original Aloha shirts so popular in the mid 1930’s.
Duke Kahanamoku was contracted to endorse a line of Aloha Shirts with Cisco Casuals, a manufacturer based in New York and California in 1949. This arrangement lasted for 12 years and sold Duke’s Cisco shirts aggressively from coast to coast.
