Duke Kahanamoku 002

Asian sailboats in matchbox vignettes, tossed in all four directions, mix with a background of bamboo on a coffee-brown solid ground.  This was a border print that had to be cut specially, “across the goods”  to ensure the even solid band at the bottom of the shirt.

Duke Kahanamoku was contracted to endorse a line of Aloha Shirts with Cisco Casuals, a manufacturer based in New York and California in 1949. This arrangement lasted for 12 years and they sold Duke’s Cisco shirts aggressively from coast to coast.
