It is believed Capistrano worked with the Los Angeles based textile company, Harry Goldinger Textile Corp. who created a collection of engineered Polynesian themed designs. Their collection was called the “Master Painters” and they sold many of their designs to manufacturers in Hawaii and on the mainland.
Harry recalled, “the back panel, collar, and pockets were made of a print that was combined with solid dyed fabric to ‘match’ the ground. The ground of the print was separated from the dyed goods by a print area so the two never came in direct contact with each other, creating the illusion of a match.”
