BVD 003

This mustard yellow short-sleeved rayon shirt by BVD boasts an unmistakably Mexican design on the back. (The front of this shirt has no design, save for two lower pockets.) A golden wide-brimmed sombrero, popular in both Mexico and the Philippines, hangs in the desert air over a pair of prickly pears, a native cactus to only the Americas and found in abundance in Mexico. This cactus have distinctly flat, rounded cladodes armed with prickly spines. This is an unusual design for an aloha shirt, no doubt appealing to the Mainland transplants living in the Islands who fondly recall desert cacti, siestas and really good Mexican street food.
