Unknown Manufacturer 003 Vintage Hawaiian Shirt

This gorgeous aloha shirt showcases the grandiose feathers of the peacock, a symbol of immortality and renewal. These feathers, though, are particularly stunning in its bright pink plumage dotted with green, yellow and red. Interspersed between these green peafowl are beautiful red and pink flowers with silver leaves.

Peacocks have been in Hawai‘i for more than a century. They were first introduced to Kaua‘i in 1860 by Frances Sinclair and now live on Hawai‘i Island, Maui and O‘ahu. Princess Ka‘iulani loved peacocks; they roamed around her estate during her lifetime. There’s even a statue of the crown princess in Waikīkī depicting her feeding a peacock standing at her feet.
