Andrade 001 Vintage Hawaiian Shirt

The flowering trees frame Diamond Head and a one-man canoe slowly sailing outside of Waikiki’s slender stretch of magical beach where outrigger canoes await their turn in the surf. Electric orange-red background with royal blue, chartreuse and yellow accents create a most vivid shirt.

The fronts are precisely lined up, which is not an easy task when working with soft and slippery rayon.

This shirt was “private labeled” for Andrade and made by Kahala, a kamaaina company that had begun their business in 1936. The owners were Nat Norfleet Sr., and a Frenchman, George Brangier who earned a reputation for making exceptionally attractive Aloha Shirts for nearly 3 decades. Today their shirts are very collectable.
